My Entrepreneurship Story

The one time I was really exposed to entrepreneurship was back in high school when my friends and I started a Ping Pong club. It wasn’t a hard process but it did take a lot of talking to other people such as administrators, teachers to sponsor, and other students for members. We also had to raise money to buy the equipment and ask the connections we had for donations. It was a really fun thing to do and once we finally got the club started we got to use the school cafeteria as our place of meeting. It was great to finally start playing and we would play for hours after school. The club became pretty big at some point where we had members pay dues for equipment upkeep and snacks and food. To this day the club is still going strong which makes me very happy and proud My reason for enrolling in ENT 3003 is to get a better understanding of what it really meant to be an entrepreneur. I believe that the skills that I learn from this course will continue to help me in everyday life and professional life.

  1. Hi Hung;

    That sounds just plain cool. Personally, ping-pong has been an issue in my life for years. I suck. My mom, my brother, my girlfriend, are all better than me. And I suck. I would have never made it in to your club.

    On a more serious note, the leadership required to fund a club is always notable. It is not easy to coordinate all that is necessary. You spoke about funding, which is vital, but also organization, members, mutual respect amongst members etc. Overall, congratulations

    1. This relates to my own story, in the way that you took the initiative with nothing else other than personal motivation. http://ent3003cesaralfonzo.blogspot.com/2016/01/my-entrepreneurship-story.html if you're interested.

  2. Hi Hung,
    I enjoyed your entrepreneurship story as I would have loved to have a Ping Pong club back in high school. I actually own a foldable ping pong set and from time to time when friends come over we do a match. Taking up the responsibility to create a new club takes an entrepreneurship mindset as you have to think about all the aspects of the club as you mention you had to gather funds for the table and other equipment.
